This original Webley Service MK2 Series 3 .22 air rifle is a superb example of a classic British airgun, dating between 1938 and 1946. Featuring matching frame and barrel numbers, this rifle retains its authenticity and appeal for both collectors and enthusiasts alike.
The walnut stock is particularly striking, crafted from the same high-quality timber used by Webley for their shotgun stocks during this period. The woodwork remains in excellent condition for its age, showcasing the craftsmanship and durability that Webley is renowned for.
The rifle retains its original blued finish, which has naturally worn and faded over time, adding to its character and confirming its age. All original open sights are present, including the distinctive fold-down peep sight with the upside ‘U’ design that folds neatly into the rear of the air transfer housing. This feature is a defining characteristic of the Series 3 model, as referenced in period literature.
The rear sight on the barrel housing is adjustable for elevation, and the rifle is fitted with its original blade-style front sight. In addition, this example includes a front sight hood, believed to have been added by a previous owner, which complements the rifle well and appears in keeping with its overall design.
A genuine piece of Webley history, this Service MK2 Series 3 is an ideal addition to any vintage airgun collection or for those seeking a classic, well-preserved example of British engineering.
