Airgunspares – A Brief History
Airgunspares began in the late 1970’s when John Knibbs left his position as Gun Sales Manager at Eley Kynoch to start John Knibbs Sporting Agencies and as something for his wife, Pauline to do he started selling airgun mainsprings under the Titan brand.
These springs were marketed under the company name of P & J Springs (Pauline & John) and as they were being sold at various exhibitions and shows, customers were also asking for the breech seal or piston washer to go with the spring..... Airgunspares was born!
P & J Springs, Titan Airgun Products & John Knibbs Sporting Agencies were amalgamated a few years later to form John Knibbs International (spares were, by now being supplied all across the globe) which supplied spares parts for most obsolete and modern airweapons including BSA’s back to 1905 and Webley’s back to 1923.
John & Pauline’s son Mark joined the business in the late 90’s. As well as running his own business, Mark Knibbs Sporting Promotions as a professional clay pigeon shooting instructor, corporate hospitality specialist and running The Dumbles Shooting Ground. Mark had also been working as a part time gunsmith within the company.
In May 2006 Mark and his wife Tessa moved the spares business to new premises in rural Warwickshire and as an addition to the Mail-Order business, opened up The Countrystore Gunshop. The move allowed the business to expand and involved upgrading the workshops and warehousing. Tessa was responsible for computerising the business and updating the usable but very archaic accounting and management systems.
The Business became a Limited Company in July 2008 and has gone from strength to strength. The Titan brand of airgun mainsprings have become synonymous with quality and reliability and are found in gunshops the world over. In February 2011 John Knibbs International Ltd were appointed as Spares Partners to BSA Guns UK Ltd, supplying all spare parts to both trade and retail customers for current production guns. This innovative move allowed BSA to focus on there core business, producing unrivalled quality airguns, whilst JKI Ltd were able to provide a much more efficient and streamlined supply of spare parts on there behalf.
There is much more to John Knibbs International Ltd and the Countrystore than meets the eye and our aim is to provide our customers old and new with an unequalled efficient, professional and friendly service.
The Countrystore Gunshop is well worth a visit and as it is located centrally, is easily reached from all the midlands motorways. Stocking a full range of airguns, shotguns, rifles, clothing, shooting accessories, decoys, etc. and with possibly the cheapest shotgun cartridges, pellets and rifle ammo in Warwickshire, it really is ‘an Aladins Cave’ for the discerning shooter !
We look forward to seeing you soon.
